Games for Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and Linux platforms that have sold or shipped at least five million copies. Expansion packs are not used in calculation of the sales figure for the original game (with the exception of StarCraft and Guild Wars). Also, sales from digital distribution stores (such as Steam, Direct2Drive, etc.) are omitted as a result of the NPD Group and similar organisations being unable to accurately track these sales.

Mobile phone

Arcade

The sales of arcade games (like massively multiplayer online games) generally cannot be judged using the same criteria as home console or computer games. For arcade games, sales are usually judged by the number of arcade hardware units sold to retail outlets and video arcades, and the amount of revenue generated from quarters used on arcade machines.[195] This list only includes arcade games that have either sold more than 10,000 hardware units or generated a revenue of more than $10 million USD (40 million quarters).
